Nooku Jam Leuven 2011 - Stay Thirsty

image

First day of the Nooku Jam Belgium has just gone at the awesome flenders creative district venue and we are getting ready for some ABBC evening (About Belgian Beer Culture) and so we quickly wanted to laydown some quick first felings and impressions.

The day was really intense, and a ton of awesome coding, sharing, learning sessions went out  of this barcamp like event. We did show the developement status of the #ohanah v2, but what’s more important we got inspired for bringing even more into it, from svg and d3.js to rendering ohanah modules inisde “overlays” so that they can load through ajax and speed up your page loading time, especially as it happened today during our session about the dynamic module injector where the wifi signal wasn’t that powerful, loading google maps modules in this way would have just made our session even better :)….Btw while i’m writing this blog post, Flavio is hacking into ohanah right now to make this happen, so that by the time i’ve finish the post, we will have a new feature added to the v2 and we will be ready for the the belgian blondes .

During the day we had also the pleasure to talk with one of the few gr8 belgian lawyers specialized in GPL and open-source law in general, again awesome Q&A session.

Food was gr8, fun was there, inspirational, techy&nerdy, and innovation talks drove the day following one after eachother and coming out from nowhere…just awesome. There are already few kickass talk and hack session planned for tomorrow as we all stay hungry…even if in belgium, and in nooku, is much more about stying thirsty ;-)

We will publish more about this awesome event , together with some pictures and a short video we are taping, stay tuned….

Time for some beers now

ohanah app for joomla v2 - developement status

Aloha! As the developement of ohanah app v2 continues we putted together a blog where initially we will post status updates, hints, and sneak preview of how the v2 is coming together.

During all the phases of designing and developing the v2 one goal has always been a priority for us: don’t just add features, but remove what wasn’t needed and improve what was already there. With ohanah we are not trying to have the biggest feature set list out there, we believe that crating and managing events on your websites should be simple, easy and fun. For this reason we put alot of effort to think and improve the overall UX especially on the backend, where most of the management aspects take place.

Here below a snap of the current new/edit event view

In term of missing features compared to the v1, we worked hard on building the easiest, yet powerful, recurring events management; we added payment gateway to sell your tickets and custom forms for the event registration. We are not going into details about this new features yet (but you can see some hints of them on the screen above).

We will keep posting about the v2 developement in the following weeks so that you all know about it a little bit more, post by post, so stay tuned and welcome to the ohanah blog.
